MEDICAL PROFESSIONS
BECOME A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL
Are you passionate about helping others, fascinated by science, or curious about how healthcare systems work? Do you want a career in one of the fastest-growing industries with endless opportunities? If so, our Medical Professions program is your first step toward a rewarding future!

This 2-year program prepares students for diverse career paths in health professions, including patient care, emergency services, healthcare administration, and biomedical technology. Students gain hands-on experience through a combination of classroom learning, clinical practice, job shadowing, and work-based learning opportunities. Key areas of study include medical terminology, professional healthcare standards, and an introduction to healthcare systems, anatomy & physiology, and emergency medical services.

Year 1: Students will be eligible to take the Vermont State LNA Exam and/or the National Registry EMR Exam. These credentials can open doors to real-world work opportunities—whether that’s in residential care, home health, hospitals, or in an ambulance with your local rescue squad or Middlebury Regional EMS (MREMS). The LNA program includes clinical experiences to help you apply your skills in authentic healthcare settings.

Year 2: Students can choose to earn their EMT certification or CCMA certification (with the option to add CPT). These credentials prepare students for exciting jobs such as working on an ambulance, at a summer camp, in a hospital emergency department, or in a medical clinic or laboratory. Both the EMT and CPT programs include clinical components to strengthen hands-on experience.

Whether you envision a future in direct patient care, allied health, or a host of related fields, this program provides the knowledge, skills, and experience to succeed in the dynamic field of healthcare.
