Professional Welding Development Program
An individualized, competency-based program for participants seeking employment, professional advancement, or industry-recognized welding qualifications.
Fall 2026
Program Schedule: Thursdays, 5:00 - 8:00 pm
Program Period: August 27 - June 10, 2026
Laboratory Instruction: 37 sessions totaling 111 instructor contact hours
Online Curriculum: Miller OpenBook
Tuition: $4,495
Participants work with an instructor to create an Individual Learning Plan based on their experience, goals, and demonstrated competencies. Training may include:
GMAW (MIG)
GTAW (TIG)
FCAW (Flux-Core)
SMAW (Stick)
Blueprint reading
Joint preparation and fit-up
Machine setup
Weld inspection
Fabrication techniques
Position welding
Participants who demonstrate the required competencies may have opportunities to complete qualification testing in accordance with the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code—Steel. The number and type of qualifications earned will depend upon each participant’s skills, commitment, and professional goals. Testing fees, when applicable, may be additional.
