(Grades 11-12) Half Day 120 minutes daily, m-f
Designed for students pursuing careers in education, health care and social services.
YEAR 1: Students learn the fundamentals of psychology, health and wellness, and human development. Choice of placements for cooperative education training within the community depends on individual interests.
For example, sports/medicine/athletic training, physical therapy, nursing, geriatrics, early childhood education and social services.
YEAR 2: Intensive on-the-job training and classroom seminars build on the knowledge and skills gained in the first year. An opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of what a career path in a chosen field would look like.
Prerequisite: 10 credits on transcript upon entering the program.
Recommended Preparation: reading and writing abilities, science aptitude, concurrent enrollment in psychology.
Desirable Qualifications: The ability to work with people of all ages, good communication skills, reliability, self-discipline.
Credits: One embedded social studies and five elective credits upon completion of the program. Possible college credits when aligned with CCV curriculum or Child Development Associate Credential.
