(Grades 11-12) Half Day 120 minutes daily, m-f
Creating professional broadcast-quality video for television and interactive multimedia CD-ROMs for computers, the Web, and public
exhibition are the bases of this artistic and technical program. Students will learn how to conceive, script, edit, and produce video productions. Emphasis is placed on creative expression using computer/video technologies.
Students also will be introduced to multimedia (audio, video, and text presentations) design and some computer animation. Students learn to capture and edit video, create computer animation, use photo design and production software, and learn other basic art and design skills. Working with a practicing video artist, students learn not only technical aspects of
these media, but put their creative skills to use. Productions focusing on entertainment such as sit-coms, narratives, and documentary film styles are encouraged for students who want to use the technology as a tool of personal expression.
Students have the opportunity to meet and work with visiting artists, film producers, and directors. By the completion of the program students produce a digital and VHS portfolio of their works either
for college applications or professional presentations. Content emphasis is placed on exploring issues relevant to young people as we head into the 21 Century.
Second year students will focus on video editing, camera work, sound design, directing, and producing video projects.
