Sustainable Landscapes, Food Production and Turf Management

sustainable-for-profileStudents taking this program will be actively engaged in learning how to design and plant landscapes. State-of-the-art computer software will be used in the design work. Students will also learn how to install and maintain sports turfs and golf courses.

floral designA third part of the program involves learning about traditional and organic food production and researching new local food crops for their sustainability. Students will participate in field experiences with local food producers, landscapers, and golf course/athletic field personnel.

Prerequisite: 10 credits on transcript upon entering the program.

Recommended Preparation: two years of science, two years of math. Plant & Animal Science is a good foundational course for this program.

Credits: One embedded science, one applied math , one fine arts and three elective credits upon completion of this two-year program.  Students may also receive transcripted college credit through Vermont Technical College.
