MINUTES OF THE HANNAFORD REGIONAL TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Present: Bill Scott, Laura Galvin, Wanda Bouvier, Kim Farnham, Lynn Coale, Mark Bouvier, Laura Adams, Holly Tippett, Chris Wyckoff, and Mark Perrin

Absent: Fred Baser and Jason Larocque

One of the candidates for Assistant Director, June Sargent, was in attendance at this meeting.

The Board Retreat will be held on Wednesday, July 20, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the main campus. This will be a working session and dinner. Robin Shy from Addison County Development will be our guest speaker. There will be no Board meeting.

Interviews for assistant director are three fifths completed. A special meeting will be held Wednesday, June 15, 5 p.m. to make a final decision on the assistant director position.

The bills were presented as follows:

Moved by Holly Tippett to approve the bills as presented, seconded by Wanda Bouvier. Motion carried.

Moved by Bill Scott to approve the minutes of the May 11, 2011, Board meeting, seconded by Laura Galvin. Motion carried.

Director’s Report – An offer has been attentively made and accepted on the two Building Trade houses. $41,500 total purchase price for both houses with $2,500 real-estate costs paid by us. This is a $10,000 loss to us.

Moved by Wanda Bouvier to accept the $41,500 for both houses, seconded by Holly Tippett. Motion carried.

There are five candidates for the Assistant Director position. Lynn will bring two candidates to the Board next Wednesday for an informal interview.

The English/Theater position has been combined. There were 47 applications. Lynn has narrowed the search down to some very qualified candidates.

Celebration of Success was held last Thursday night. It was nice to see Board members in attendance.

Middlebury/Mt. Abe FFA banquet was held on Wednesday night.

Lynn Coale attended the Vergennes FFA parent/student award ceremony.

We received the Governor’s Award for Community Service as well as four of our seniors.

We have moved two-thirds of our chickens to North Campus.

We participated in an outreach program with 16 kindergartners from Mary Hogan. The students came out to see the chickens and tractors. Mike Hendy from Hendy Brothers brought over a tractor and gave each of the students a hat.

Last day for students is June 16 and the last teacher day is June 22. The faculty will spend four days sharing curriculum, etc. without students.

Moved by Bill Scott to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel and negotiations at 5:25 p.m., seconded by Chris Wyckoff. Motion carried. Lynn Coale and Mark Bouvier were asked to stay for the Executive Session.
